With over a dozen acts hitting the Speakeasy Nuevo stage tonight at the Home of the Stars, the performance timetable has flowed well out of the usual vaudeville program so much so that we have invented a whole new set!! Starting at 6pm tonight will be a line up of live jazz acts, including the one and only, sassy jazz diva, Cassie McIntosh!!
As a singer she has us all on the edge of our seats. But with such a stunning voice and picturesque looks every one of her followers and fans wants to know more!! So we took her aside and asked her the famous give questions.
Tell us about your performance; what do you perform?
I am a singer. I have sung from a very young age not only solo but in choirs, acapella groups and later in life musicals. Last year I performed in the national tour of Puttin’ on the Ritz. It was there that I truly came to love the 1920’s jazz style of music. And, hey, it turned out I wasn’t to bad at it either!
How did begin performing?
I grew up in my aunties dance school. I was thrown on stage at the age of two in a spare costume they had for a babies tap routine. To bad I didn’t have tap shoes. I ran on, a little to fast maybe, slipped in my socks and ran off. I wasn’t a natural talent really but I didn’t have my dads sporting skills either so performing it was! Its definitely something I’ve grown to love.
If you could meet one person alive or dead who would it be and why?
Judy Garland. I’d love to be sitting in the front row of her 1961Carnegie Hall Concert. She is one of the most intriguing performers I’ve ever seen!
What would you like to be remembered for in 100 years?
That girl who wasn’t just a pretty face!
What will you be performing at Speakeasy Nuevo on May 17th?
A small handful of my favorite jazz standards that have been with me as a professional singer in so many ways for so long.
We can’t wait to see Ms McIntosh performing live tonight at Speakeasy Nuevo!!! Get your tickets online and ensure you get a seat!! http://www.trybooking.com/Booking/BookingEventSummary.aspx
