This Saturday night at Speakeasy HQ the loyal Fan Cartel of vaudeville loving audience members are in for a treat!!! Topping off an 11-act vaudeville show will be one of the most accomplished and highly trained handstand acro artists in the country today, performing fetes of strength that make gravity seem to not apply to him the way it does to the rest of us.
Obtaining his training at the National Institute of Circus Arts Liam DeJong will perform the final and headline set at Speakeasy HQ on Saturday night, as our audience are treated to performance of power, strength and agility unlike anything they have ever seen before. So we took the man of much strength aside and asked him a bunch of questions to see what makes him tick, as he limbers up and readies for this week’s show!
Who are you and what led you to performing professionally?
I’m Liam and I’m a hand-balancer. I also perform adagio/partner acrobatics. I started gymnastics at 4 and made the switch to circus at 18 after doing 6 years of sports acrobatics. I enjoy performing because I love showing people what the human body is capable of.
What has been the highest point of your performance career?
The highest point of my career has to be when I was selected to perform in France with a performance troupe to open the Festival du Cirque de Demain.
If there was a biographical movie of your life made who would play you and who would play your best friend?
This ones hard… but I reckon I’d play myself and my best mate Alex would play himself. We would have heaps of fun making a movie and there would be sooooooo many out takes.
If you could perform a 3-5 minute vaudeville act with one famous person from any part of history, who would it be and what would you perform?
Would have to be my old coach, Jing Jing Xue, one of the pioneers of crazy handstand skills and the ultimate example of what a human body can achieve.
What will the audience see when you perform at Speakeasy HQ?
When I perform my act at Speakeasy HQ the audience will see acts of strength, balance and both combined, they will get a fright but have the enjoyment of knowing that anything is possible.
We can’t wait to see Liam DeJong performing live at Speakeasy HQ THIS Saturday night!!! Don’t miss your chance to be in the audience as he demonstrates elite strength live!! Ticketing info: http://www.trybooking.com/Booking/BookingEventSummary.aspx?eid=87968
